Biff and The Biffbots

Jan 12th

Couple of things today that make life a little bit interesting. First of all they have lifted the restriction on buying Epic 2.0 globes for twinks. They will still cost 20dkp which is a hefty chunk of anybodies dkp plus your character must have no equipment deficiencies plus the rule of only being able to spend 10% of your dkp on a twink still applies. Still having "only" spent 30dkp on Eboola so far and having earned 570 I can buy her a globe :) So I think I start to concentrate on her 2.0 now if my off time and see what I can get done.

Tide have been invited into the Guild Beta which is kinda cool :) I guess only the top guilds in the game get invited to participate and concidering we are 1 of the top 8 guilds in the game at the moment (if we kill Performer then we move to #4) this makes us eligible. Anyway I have signed up for it as have most of the guild so it will be kinda fun to get a peek at the new expansion before it goes live and have a chance to chat with guilds from other servers and speak to the developers. Will be the first time in over 5 years of playing that I have had a chance to participate in a Beta. Hopefully we get a bit of advance knowledge of some of the encounters.

Tonight was Performer and we had a good go at him, This is actually a very fun event with wave after wave of mobs coming down in an effort to silence us as we try and sing the song with the bards. All emotes are working fine now and we easily get past the first named and are now currently working on the second which we were able to get to 45%. Going to need a few more attempts at this to get it right but we will get there, not as though he is unkillable :)

Apart from helping guild start the clear to Roley I didn't play much tonight as I felt I shouldn't be such a sad git playing every night and to go out with my flatmate, his girlfriend, and a friend of his from Amsterdam. Had a couple of pints and listened to a some live music but the evening was a tad flat.

Guild eventually killed Roley and by the time I got back they were about to have a go at Performer but I didn't logon. Chatted with the cleric team on my trader (who is making steady money again, about 3-4k a day)

Managed to get home in time to make Raid Start so spent the first hour or so clearing up to Devlin. First attempt was going really well until a bottle took out some key people after which it went rapidly down hill. The CR was painful in that people were either AFK and getting eaten by repops and exploding zombies or going down too far and aggroing mobs. Second attempt was far better and adding a "Bottle" trigger to my EQWatcher meant that I am unlikely to fall foul to this again. Devlin died much to our relief.

Next in line was Roley. Last time we did this it took us ages to figure out what was required. This time was a lot clearer and was going very well, in fact we had him at 46% when suddenly the whole zone froze for the best part of a minute. When it came back to life again it all went rapidly pear shaped and we wiped. With a number of key people leaving we called it a night.

Ran up to the redfang area in Dreadspire and handed in my blocker so thats 3 of them done now. Just need to hand in Hatchet and I am finished with them.

Worked later than normal, ran by the bike shop for some quick repairs and had to cook some food so by the time I logged on was well past raid start. Somebody had used Biffar for a res but not run me back so Dreadspire zone so I had that chore only to discover that I was out of levi potions! Anyway found a friendly ranger and made it only to find raid was full and had to sit out. No problem as it gave me a chance to so some more work.

Missed the fight on Tris Wallow III which didn't go quite as planned and required 2 attempts. Got a CoH to raid in time to have our second attempt at The Performer.

We learnt a heck of a lot from our first attempt so to start we had a discussion of how we were going to do the encounter. With so many emotes to follow we spent time setting up banks of hotkeys and configuring EQWatcher triggers before trying. Worked extremely well and by the end of the night we were getting to the 11th wave and were killing the named that seems to be a watered down version of Ture. Was a fun fight and will be interesting to see what lies ahead as most guild seem to have spent some time killing this mob.

After raids ran up to Redfang area to hand in my blocker to Arturos, Trainer of Bats but he de-popped on me when I targetted him which was rather strange. Will try again tonight. Then I ran to the Three Sister handin mob Ariahn Teller which went better so at least I have now handed in 2 of my 4 blockers. Karinthia who was showing me where to go confirmed that the Hatchet handin required a group to fight the way there so that will have to wait probably until the weekend. Oh and by the way jumping off the bridge just outside Redfang area doesn't take you to zonein but drops you in that damn lake as it used to when the zone was first implemented and Thuuli used to flux half the raid.

Joined Manowarra, Milyenx and Tibbil and together we took down Shei Vinitras . Only took Eboola along as Karinthia was there to heal along with his monk Tovin who now proudly boasts Epic 2.0. Wouldn't go into too many details but basically he was able to buy the Orb from another guild and then with friends was able to complete the quest. Really makes you have to ask why the hell our guild isn't allowing us to buy the orbs for our twinks. I certainly would buy one for Eboola for 20dkp. Anyway the shears didn't drop for Tibbil so I guess we come back next week.

As a side not my trader sucks :( After initially selling off a few things he has kind of slowed down, really need to try and find some decent things to sell

Oh and before I forget I must add that I looked myself up on EQRankings and I am #100 serverwide for mana, first time I have made it onto the first page :) But more importantly checking myself on EQPlayers I am #81 serverwide and #5 on AB. Woot go me, not that anybody cares :)

Up early with the intention of playing but after an hour of not getting anything done I logged and did some work instead. Logged on again late afternoon and sorted out Biffars bank which is full of crap. Got almost 2 backpacks full of stuff for BiC so I am seriously thinking of starting it purely to give me something to do apart from tradeskills. Was good to delete a lot of the crap as its made a lot of space ready for finishing my baking. Misty Thicket picnics here I come! Before raiding hooked up with Limpie and Winenose for a bit of PoF C2 action. In just over an hour got 4 AA so I was happy.

The raids tonight were a cracker with us going for Yar`Lir the Matriarch first so that Uriella could get the eye. Flawless kill if it wasn't for one of us (cough Limpie) messing about with Grel Strongboom. Now the mob himself isnt something we should have had problems with but its the second part of his name "Strongboom" that kinda gives away his secret weapons. Basically he has a bunch of Goblins with him that run amongst us and explode. It was funny but the officers didnt really appreciate the fact half the raid was killed being buffless and AFK. Yar'Lir died in short time and dropped junk (damit I must upgrade my face as I have it from this mob!).

Next was Vishimtar the Fallen and I was really hoping that Eboola would get a raid invite so she could get in the expedition in case a Dragonkiller dropped. Wasn't to be which at the time upset me a bit because I had asked Meemers and made it cleare what I was trying to do. Anyway it didn't drop so no big deal but there were spots in the raid and it would have upset me if it had dropped. However 6 upgrades in 48 hours for Eboola so I shouldn't complain.

Off to Dreadspire and first in line was Zi-Thuuli of the Granite Claw. Thank god I have the letter of invitation as getting there is now so much easier. No lagging out and missing the elevated ramps or bumping into that damned named spider. Wham bam and one dead boss.

Next was Sanguimanus the Redfang who went down in record time. I got the blocker so thats me complete now, just need to hand the damn things in now as thats the hard part. I am told by Karinthia that I can hand them in using DA run and invis but I am not convinced, Im just not confident of the layout and knowing me I would run the wrong way and die horribily somewhere. Better to wait for a group to go do it.

Now is it just me but man I really dont understand the Three Sisters Althea, Brenda and Christine event. Anyway we were too slow doing it the first time so the event reset. However second time around was fine and we won. Two belts dropped and having been told that my belt was weak I decided to bid. Ended up winning one for 17dkp which is ok though I am now down to about 30, this will be enough though for a wrist or face if one drops which are my next purchases. What with moving a few augs around yesterday will be interesting to see what my new mana total will be. Also I really must put a decent aug in my BP hence the desire now to start BiC.

Last on the list was Hatchet the Torturerwhich I must admit is a fun event which I am beginning to like. Since I out the new emotes into my EQWatcher this event is actually quite easy. So easy in fact that Meemers is now fining people who miss emotes and cause a wipe, hence poor old Sezas was fined 3dkp. Still a quick recovery and he died on 2nd attempt.

After raid I camped at zone in as I guess we go after Tris first thing tommorrow and I have to go via the bike shop and get my bike fixed. What a great night of raiding though with 5 top mobs killed and loots galore.

Up early. Checked trader and another 10k overnight. Ran Biffar to Qvic ready for the rest of the chaps who are willing to help. Swordweaver and Milyenx arrived followed a bit later by Charoke. Eboola evertually logged on 40 mins late and we soon killed the 3 Shas. Eboola got 3 pieces including Boots, Bracer and Gloves. Swordweavers cleric got the sleeves, Eboola also got a nice aug. Stayed exping in Qvic for a while to get meldstones and eventually took a break for lunch. After lunch we killed them again and this time Eboola got Arms and a Bracer so she now has all the Qvic she needs.

Spent the early evening helping Splosh and his brother Xebshale farm runes in DoD. In just over 2 hours we had 17 drop which is really quite fantastic. They seem to sell for about 4-5k each bazaar and the ones I was given I gave to Digglewig so she now has all her 66 and 69 spells. Still need her 67, 68 and 70s so maybe I should come camp this spot, my only problem is lack of puller and tank however Limpie and said I can borrow her account so that will just rock.

After taking a short break for Dinner did a DoD misssion which was nice and chill. However was too tired to play late so logged early, watched a movie and went to bed.

Turo - 70 Warrior

Turo

No Magelo

Turo was my best friend on Veeshan who I met one early morning when he drunkedly forgot he was playing his friends level 40 warrior and tried running through FV. Having ressed him we became good buddies even though we weren't in the same guild. When I moved to VS Turo joined me in CoE and MTS until he fell out with the MTS guild leader. He joined Mortalis while I moved to Dawnraiders and I eventually joined him in Mortalis. When Mortalis folded Turo quit but still comes back from time to time and pays for the account. Since then I have made over 300 AA for Turo though his gear remains frozen at pre Anguish level.

This account has now gone inactive as Turo has let it expire. Hence I am now using a Paladin from the guild as my tank

Eazy - 70 Enchanter

Eazy

No Magelo

Eazy was a twink of a friend in Circle of Eternity who followed me over to VS. He eventually sold his main character and switched to Eazy but has basically been AFK. He still pays for the account. Not used for much except to buff Eazy has pretty crap gear mixed with a couple of nice items.

Digglewig Fiddlesticks - 70 Druid

Digglewig

Digglewig's Magelo

Created to port Biffar around I kinda got a little carried away with her and decided to level her up and get her a few AA. Pretty crap twink gear mixed with stuff from Time means she is ok and can hold her own in a group

Biffar Fiddlesticks - 70 Cleric

Biffar

Biffar's Magelo

My second character after my monk (no longer played and frozen at level 52 for doing Naggy/Vox). Initially only made to rez my wife Biffar became my main after I was accepted into Small Chaotic Gods of War a role playing guild for short people on Veeshan. Great guild but doomed due to the class restrictions and the desire to raid which I started to do with my wifes guild Sceptered Isle. Raided with them upto Hot in ToV before joining Circle Of Eternity who I stayed with until Quarm. Unable to raid on US times I moved to Venril Sathir, a european server, and joined a series of guilds that one by one died. Curse of Eternity, MTS, Dawnraiders, Mortalis and finally Tide in Feb 2005. When VS closed down I moved to AB where I am happily raiding in one of the best guilds across all servers.
